Being real is exhausting.

But AI can help.

Weekly Words

The art of being “authentic”

AI is making everything feel fake, so pressure’s on to be the realest of real. That picture above…I wanted to have a picture like the one that the former editor of Real Simple magazine had on the inside cover. She was on her front porch with her two dogs posed perfectly looking at the camera. Well, we tried and we failed. My dogs don’t do perfect on a regular day and if there’s a camera, it’s definitely not happening. But it was real! So should we strive for perfect or strive for real? Or both? Or neither? I think the answer is to do whatever feels right. There’s no perfect strategy or perfect content plan. Just keep going forward and do it with integrity and the rest will happen.

Weekly Round Up

The Pressure of Being Real

With AI at the forefront of all things marketing, there is a huge focus on showing up “authentically” and as a “real human”. And that can be exhausting. If you are feeling tired of competing with Chatgpt in more ways than one, I have a few tips.

  1. Log your human-ness - Keep a journal, notebook or notes app to write down things that make you who you are. Maybe an experience you had, something funny, or just the fact that you like olives on your pizza. This not only becomes content prompts when you are not feeling inspired but it also keeps your content about you and not about what’s trending.

  2. Post the stuff that’s not great - I hate to tell you this but not that many people are going to see your content. If you post something that bombs, move on.

  3.  Show what AI is capable of - If your job is being threatened by AI, use it to your advantage. Check out the lead magnet below to see what I’m talking about. You can teach people how to use AI to do your job and show clearly how they still need you.

PJ’s & Pep Talks

You are really good at what you do.

Sometimes, even if people are telling you that you are great at what you do, it doesn’t stick. You might be in a funk, lacking inspiration to produce content or network. You may have someone you work with that isn’t supporting you.

Don’t give up.

Take a break, take a walk, watch something dumb on tv, call a friend.

Just don’t give up.
