I presented a workshop on Pitching with Personality last week to a wonderful group of women. The first time I met these ladies, we were on an outside patio in 100 degree weather and I wore pants. Public speaking tip #1, don’t wear black pants when it’s 100 degrees whether you are outside or not. I had a slide deck prepared in case there was A/V but there wasn’t (no big deal). But when I went to start the presentation, I put my stuff on a chair and grabbed a green folder that had handouts to make the workshop interactive. Well, after handing out said handouts, I kept the green folder in my hand. THE WHOLE TIME. I talked with my hands and flapped the folder around and I didn’t put it down until the very end. And I realized that when I speak in front of a group, I like to have something in my hand. Not necessarily a giant green folder but something. The thing is that we all have something that can get better. But does it really need to get better? Either way, don’t let it hold you back.

Marketing Tip of the Week - Canva Creative Videos

I created a really cool video post on Canva. You can check it out here. Here’s how you do it:
1. Open a new design in Canva ( I used a Facebook landscape post)
2. Go to elements and video and search jump or hop and select a video that you like, the one I used is in there
3. Make a copy of the video and click Remove Background
4. Align the person that is hopping in the video directly overtop the original
5. Format your text on top of the video
6. Duplicate your text and click on effects (for that text only)
7. Choose “Hollow”
8. Position your hollow text directly overtop the original text
9. Go to Position and click on "Layers"
Finally, check the order: background video → main text → video with background removed → hollow text on top.
