Why I’m here

First, thanks for having me. Second, I’m here because I’m really passionate about your business. Why? Because I’ve heard so many business owners tell me that they love what they do and they are REALLY GOOD at it. BUT, they don’t know how to (and really don’t want to) sell. I’m here to tell you that you there is a successful way to sell your service, product, time and value and still FEEL GOOD. I got my first sales job when I was 16 years old selling credit cards over the phone and I learned very early that it’s not about what you are selling, it’s mostly about how everyone feels about it.

So stick with me because each week you can expect a message from me that will tell you more about who I am, my adventures in the world and sometimes my failures (that’s this box), a weekly roundup of tips and tricks when it comes to marketing and branding (that’s the purple box), a reminder of how awesome you and you’re business are and why you should keep going (the light blue box), and then a suprise at the end in the green box (maybe a cool freebie, a link to a resource I’m using, a video on how to make the best gazpacho ever). I love cold soup.

3 Tips for Selling with Empathy & Connection

When I was a telesales representative I was calling people on Monday through Thursday from 5pm-8pm on a landline. So they were usually eating dinner and had the ability to slam the phone down in my ear (and that happened a lot). But when it didn’t here’s why:

  1. Listen first - When starting a sales conversation, the Power of the Pause is crucial. At your next networking event, take notice of the people that are talking fast and not taking a breath. They are a walking low conversion rate. If you treat people like people and listen to what they have to say, how they feel what they are struggling with, you may find a place to offer value and help. If not, you made a genuine connection with someone that may turn into a business relationship later. It doesn’t all need to happen right now. 💡Instead of “Here’s what I offer,” try “If you’ve been feeling [insert real pain point], you’re not alone — here’s something that might help.”

  2. Pitch the Problem you solve, not just the product you sell. Once you have listened it’s much easier to pitch. If you are pitching the concept of making someone’s life and business easier, happier, more profitable, etc, that is much more attractive than telling them that you have this service they can buy. If you are presenting to a group or posting on social, the rules still apply. Find out the problem, see if your service or product fixes it and post or present appropriately.

  3.  Let’s Talk About Your Feelings - Wait, what? How do you feel about what you’re selling? Are energized like you were the first day or are you burnt out because it feels like nothing is working? Either way, your audience will know. If you need an energy boost, tap back into why you started this thing in the first place. I have a Love Letters to Your Business Challenge that is a great way to do that!

PJ’s & Pep Talks

YOU are reason people do business with you.

There are a lot of people that do what you do. Whether you are a coach, a Realtor, someone in the service industry, a brick and mortar business owner, your customers have options.

So, why should they choose you? Only you can answer that question. You put your heart and soul into this business, now tell people about it with that same heart and soul!

“Sales are not about closing deals; they are about opening relationships."
